First Day of School!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Wendy

Wow….Where did the summer go? I have had so many of my friends ask the same thing. We had such a mild summer that it felt like no summer at all. ( I am slightly afraid of what the winter will bring?)

Now let the season of wacky schedules begin!

We just got back home from the kids Christmas recital and it was so
cute. What I especially love was that they seperated the evening. K-1
followed by 2-5,reason for this was to allow all the parents a chance
to get to see their kids in the small smal gym we have. I loved hearing
the littel ones sing…They really know how to belt them out

I love getting together with the girls.

Posted by Wendy

I really love to diverse group of friends we have and I especially love getting together for our annual cookie exchange. Cindy hosted it this year and made a fabulous sweet potato soup ( will post the recipe later) with salad and bread. Aside the great food and company, I love the topics of discussion, Politics and current events, to kids and education to just plain silliness.

Disney- Check

This is now moved to the been there category.  We really had a fabulous time, but backed up to the wedding in arizona ( again so fabulous) it is just good to be home.

The kids were off to school today and the first thing they told Kevin ( our car pool friend) We celebrated our birthday in Disney World! and ate breakfast with Mickey!  Now how sweet is that and yeah.

It is funny to hear the things that they tell people about first,

there is , Expedition everest ( alwasy in the top ten) rock and roller coaster, meeting Stich and his great escape ( he has a nasty bodily  function problem that is prevelant in that ride), The safari ride in Animal Kingdom with the trained hippo, Seeing the dolphins and divers at Epcot, Cinderellas castle and grant losing his fanny pack and someone turning it in without taking 1 dime from it! ( ahh the magic of Disney)

Now I know there were so many other things in the week we were there, but I am jsut happy that the whole experience was not lost on them and hopefully they will remember it because it wont be any time soon that we make it back.

As a mom one of the joys I received from Disney was that everytime someone passed our children with their birthday buttons on, they acknowledge them and wished them happy birthday, some even took a special moment to do something……Like one cast member took our children aside after the Kali river ride and said they had a important phone call for Cameron and Grant.  We walked over to the phone and Goofy was on the other line giving them a special Birthday greeting……How cool is that! again AHHH the magic of Disney.  Well back to reality and cold weather and snow…….

Oh Thank you GPS

We have started a tradition at Halloween time, go online and search the BEST yard displays and map them out , We stop or get food for the car and trek out for the night.  The Kids and I have so much fun, plus for the last 2 years, my neice Ashley has joined us.  I love spending time with my neices, they are such great girls and since they are older and driving, Auntie Time is not as frequent these days…… SO I will take what I get!  I digress…. So we are armed with the addresses….and a normally a printed out google map, which makes the trip longer becuase we are trying to figure out all the TINY TINY writing.  Well this year we borrowed my Dads Garmin and WOOOOOO what a difference.  We just puched inthe addresses and off we were to the next location.  “Turn Left in .4 miles…” Got to love Satelittes!”  THe last stop of the night was to a true labor of love…. a home in Burbank. It was incredible, at least 100 perfectly carved pumpkins with faces of actors and various charecters in them all lined up the driveway. At least a dozen set up senerios with Pirates of the Carribean, Mad Scientist, 2 graveyards, and one men car with Zombie drivers all lite up as if on a joy cruise listening to tunes…  On  top of that there were a host of charecters dressed up ready to scare the beejeebies out of those who dare visit.  What I liked most was that with one shake of my head, the scary jester clown, nodded and just stood looking at the kids without really scaring them.  He knew the spirit of this Haunted Yard was to make sure that those who came, especially the kids had a good time.

Sad to say , they said it was their last year, kids grown, married, just too much time…… But Thank you for helping give families a safe pace to take their kids to enjoy the spirit of Halloween!
